”The Making of a Japanese” Screening & Talk. A Journey with No Right Answer.

Following its impactful release in Japan last December, our latest project is crossing borders. This February, we are bringing the conversation to London.

The film offers an unfiltered, “as-it-is” look at a year inside a Japanese public elementary school. But this screening is about more than just observing a different culture; it is an invitation to look inward.

By witnessing the frontlines of Japanese education, we invite you to compare it with your own upbringing and the diverse educational landscapes we see globally. What are the fundamental differences? And more importantly, what should the future of education truly look like?

When we held this event in Japan, the reactions were strikingly polarized. It sparked a spectrum of emotions—from high praise to sharp criticism. This film does not provide a “correct” answer. Instead, it serves as a mirror.

We look forward to hearing your voices—whether positive, skeptical, or somewhere in between—in the diverse heart of London. Let’s explore the questions that have no easy answers, together.

「小学校〜それは小さな社会〜」上映×対話。正解のない問いを、共に考える。

舞台となるのは、日本の公立小学校。そこで過ごした1年間の「ありのまま」を記録したドキュメンタリー映画を上映します。

日本の教育現場を客観的に見つめることは、単なる異文化理解に留まりません。ご自身の受けてきた教育、そして今、世界各地で行われている教育と何が違うのか。その「比較」の先に、「これからの時代に本当に必要な教育とは何か？」という問いが見えてくるはずです。

日本での上映時には、絶賛の声もあれば、鋭い批判も飛び出しました。この映画に「正解」はありません。ポジティブな意見も、ネガティブな視点も。ロンドンという多様性の街で、皆さんと熱く議論できることを楽しみにしています。
